About Find A Broker

Honest broker comparisons.
No pay-to-rank.

Most broker comparison sites are run by marketing teams optimising for affiliate commission. This one isn't. It's run by someone who spent years inside fintech companies and got tired of watching bad information send retail traders to the wrong broker.

Who we are

The honest answer is this site started out of irritation. I spent years working in revenue operations inside fintech — the kind of role where you sit between sales, marketing, and the product. Part of that job was understanding how brokers acquire retail clients. How comparison sites drive signups. How affiliate deals get structured. Which metrics actually matter to a broker's commercial team versus which ones go in the press release.

That background makes it pretty easy to look at a broker comparison site and see what's going on underneath it. Rankings shaped by CPA rates. "Best for beginners" lists pointing to high-spread brokers. Review criteria quietly designed to favour whoever's paying the biggest commission. Most of these sites are run by SEO teams who've never thought about the difference between a market maker and an STP broker.

This site is one person. I open the accounts, check the FCA register, read the terms, and write the reviews. Coverage is slower than sites with a team behind them — that's the trade-off. But there's no internal pressure to rank a broker well because a commercial deal depends on it. Every broker gets the same questions asked about it, whether they're paying us or not. The ones that look good in the rankings look good because they're actually better for UK retail traders, not because they offered a better CPA.

What we assess

Every broker is evaluated against six criteria, in this order, with identical weighting regardless of affiliate status.

🛡️

Regulation & Safety

We verify FCA registration directly, check whether UK clients are served under the full FCA licence or a passported/offshore entity, and confirm FSCS eligibility where applicable.

💰

Fees & Total Cost

We calculate the true cost of trading across spread, commission, overnight financing, currency conversion, and withdrawal fees — not just the headline spread number.

⚙️

Platforms & Execution

We open real accounts and test order execution, platform stability, charting tools, and mobile experience under normal and volatile market conditions.

📊

Instruments & Markets

We catalogue the full range of tradeable assets — forex pairs, indices, shares, commodities, ETFs, and crypto — and flag restrictions that apply to UK retail clients.

📚

Education & Support

We assess the quality of educational resources, onboarding clarity, and customer support responsiveness — particularly important for less experienced traders.

⚖️

Affiliate Independence

We earn commissions from some brokers when users sign up. We document every relationship in our disclosure and apply identical review criteria regardless of commercial arrangement.

How we review

01

Open a real account

Every broker we review has been tested with a live or demo account opened under standard UK retail conditions.

02

Verify regulation directly

We check the FCA register, confirm the entity serving UK clients, and note any gap between the brand name and the regulated entity.

03

Calculate true costs

We benchmark spreads, commissions, and financing costs across comparable instruments — not just the broker's own marketing figures.

04

Score against fixed criteria

Every broker is assessed against the same criteria in the same order. Scores are not adjusted post-hoc based on affiliate status.

05

Review and update

Broker conditions change. We revisit every review when fee structures, regulation, or platform features change materially.

Affiliate disclosure

Some brokers pay a commission if you sign up via a link on this site. That's documented in full on the affiliate disclosure page. It's the standard model for comparison sites and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. What I will say is that the brokers ranked highest are ranked highest because they're genuinely better — not because they offered a higher commission rate. Several brokers I rate well don't have an affiliate programme at all.
